Which BYD SEALION 7 Should You Buy? Comparing All Three Variants
23 SEPTEMBER 2026
The short answer: the BYD SEALION 7 comes in three variants priced at 1,199,900 / 1,299,900 / 1,349,900 baht. If value and range matter most, the Premium makes the strongest case — it travels 567 km, further than the more expensive AWD Performance. If you want all-wheel drive and a 4.5-second sprint, step up to the AWD Performance. But if the budget stretches, the AWD Ultimate is the best buy of the three: for only 50,000 baht more than the Performance you get a larger battery, 58 km more range, and DC fast charging raised from 150 kW to 230 kW.

What does the extra money buy?
From Premium to AWD Performance: 100,000 baht more
You gain a second electric motor at the front, rated at 160 kW and 310 Nm, which turns the car into an all-wheel drive. Combined output rises from 230 to 390 kW, the 0–100 km/h time drops by 2.2 seconds, and the wheels grow from 19 to 20 inches.
The trade-off is 115 kg of extra weight, which cuts range by 25 km, from 567 down to 542 km, even though both variants use the same battery pack.
From AWD Performance to AWD Ultimate: only 50,000 baht more
You gain a larger battery, up from 82.5 to 91.3 kWh, which adds 58 km of range for a total of 600 km. Luggage space rises to 520 litres, you get six exterior colours to choose from, and most importantly, DC fast charging climbs from 150 kW to 230 kW — a meaningful cut in charging stops on longer trips.
It is worth noting that the second 50,000-baht step delivers considerably more than the first 100,000-baht step. So if you have already decided to move up from the Premium to an all-wheel drive variant, adding another 50,000 baht for the Ultimate is excellent value.
Which variant is right for you?
Choose the Premium if
• You drive mainly in the city and with family, and do not need a 4.5-second sprint
• You want the longest range for the smallest budget — its 567 km beats the AWD Performance that costs 100,000 baht more
• You prefer a softer ride, as 19-inch wheels carry taller tyre sidewalls that absorb Thailand's road surfaces better than 20-inch wheels
• You want the highest ground clearance of the three at 163 mm, for rough roads or standing water
Choose the AWD Performance if
• You want all-wheel drive for extra confidence in rain or on slippery roads
• Acceleration and driving enjoyment matter to you
• The Ultimate is outside your budget and you can live with 25 km less range
Choose the AWD Ultimate if
• You travel long distances often and want both the 600 km range and 230 kW fast charging to cut time spent at charging stops
• You want everything in one car: all-wheel drive, acceleration, the largest battery and the most luggage space
• You want the widest colour choice, with six options
Frequently asked questions
How many BYD SEALION 7 variants are there, and what do they cost? Three variants: Premium at 1,199,900 baht, AWD Performance at 1,299,900 baht, and AWD Ultimate at 1,349,900 baht (prices as of September 2026).
Which SEALION 7 has the longest range? The AWD Ultimate, at 600 km on the NEDC cycle, followed by the Premium at 567 km and the AWD Performance at 542 km. Note that the cheapest variant travels further than the AWD Performance because it is lighter and uses a single motor.
How do the Premium and AWD Performance differ? Mainly in drivetrain. The Premium is rear-wheel drive with a single 230 kW motor, while the AWD Performance adds a 160 kW front motor for all-wheel drive and 390 kW combined, cutting the 0–100 km/h time from 6.7 to 4.5 seconds and moving to 20-inch wheels. The trade-off is 25 km less range.
Which SEALION 7 offers the best value? It depends on your budget. For value per baht, the Premium delivers the second-longest range at the lowest price. But once you have decided on an all-wheel drive variant, the AWD Ultimate clearly beats the AWD Performance: 50,000 baht more buys a larger battery, 58 km more range and nearly double the fast-charging speed.
What range can you expect in real driving? NEDC is a laboratory test standard. Real-world range typically lands at around 80–85% of the quoted figure, depending on driving style, air conditioning use and traffic conditions.
